Advanced Next Gem Technology: Black Opal
We set out to create a paddle that redefines what’s possible in power, control, and durability. The Black Opal is a rare gem in the pickleball world, built from the ground up with next-generation materials and patent-pending technologies that deliver unmatched feel and performance for players at every level.
Why choose the Black Opal?
- Designed for serious competitors and aspiring pros
- Combines explosive power with confident control and touch
- Engineered with Six Zero’s most advanced paddle innovations
- Built for tournament and high-performance recreational play
- Diamond Tough infused surface for extended texture life
G4 Aerospace Solid Foam Core
At the heart of the Black Opal is our proprietary G4 Aerospace Foam Core, a floating solid construction that optimizes energy transfer and creates a highly responsive sweet spot. The 14mm high-density design delivers fast hands and increased power while maintaining the same control you’d expect from a traditional 16mm paddle, giving you the best of both worlds.
Power Gel: Explosive Energy Layer
The Black Opal features our patent-pending Power Gel layer, engineered to amplify shot energy without compromising touch. This breakthrough design maximizes pop, adds depth to drives, and enhances precision at the net, giving you the edge in every exchange.
Shock Shield Handle Technology
With every swing, Shock Shield technology absorbs vibration and enhances feedback. This silicone injection system is built directly into the handle, reducing arm fatigue and helping you stay connected to the ball with greater comfort and confidence.
Carbon Lite Construction
Engineered with aerospace-grade Carbon Lite materials, the Black Opal delivers an ideal strength-to-weight ratio for lightning-fast maneuverability and long-lasting performance. The result is a paddle that feels light in hand but powerful on impact.
Diamond Tough Surface
The Black Opal introduces Six Zero’s patent-pending Diamond Tough infusion across the entire face, extending surface texture life by more than four times compared to industry standards. This means spin, bite, and consistency that endures match after match.
Perfectly Balanced for Precision and Power
Every detail of the Black Opal was meticulously designed to provide the ultimate balance between precision shot-making, powerful drives, and confident resets. Whether you’re attacking, defending, or dictating pace, this paddle empowers you to raise your game to the next level.
Exclusive Neoprene Cover
Each Black Opal comes with a custom Six Zero neoprene cover, protecting your paddle in style and ensuring you’re always ready for peak performance.
Step onto the court with confidence and experience the next level of power, precision, and control with the Black Opal.

Black Opal Paddle Review
See why the Black Opal is our most advanced paddle yet, built to deliver unmatched spin, power, and control.
Product FAQ
The pop is tremendous, but controllable. The paddle is deceptively “spinny”, even more so than the Red Ruby Pro. Two weeks after the new Ruby, I had the Black Opal in my hands and have not put it down since.
I think this paddle does very well at what it was meant to do which is to hit far without too much of a player's energy or power. It also beautifully absorbs the shock when receiving drives so that our wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries will thank us. I use it when the game calls for it.
I also bought the Ruby Pro one month earlier. This is the paddle that suits my playing style better. What the Black Opal does for drives, the Ruby Pro does for spins and control . With little effort, both these paddles produce some visible results. The Ruby Pro is better for me for soft shots and kitchen play because of how much better the ball dwells on it.
Loved the ‘DBD’ but wanted more spin potential and power. To be honest, the Opal took a while to adjust to. After a couple of moths of struggling I finally adjusted to the new racket. I almost went back to the DBD. I thought that a paddle by the same manufacturer, same thickness and shape would play similar but with more spin. For me it was a very different paddle and I had to put in the time to adjust. I am comfortable with the Opal now and highly recommend it. If you make the switch from DBD be warned it may take some practice and time to adjust. The Price was fair after using referral ‘Alpha10’. I recommend to anyone who wants to improve their game play. Have fun!
As someone who’s not exactly a total newbie but definitely a casual player, this paddle was a game-changer for me. It’s comfortable enough for all-day play and gives you that little boost of confidence to level up your game. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking to step things up a notch!
This is my 4th 6.0 paddle and by far the best. I was surprised at the control I have with the Black Opal yet the power and control from the base line and transition zone is fantastic. I have played with the 16mm Ruby Infinity for the past 18 months and within 2 weeks playing with the Black Opal I won't be looking back. Great job 6.0!!
I know the Black Opal is only a Gen 4, but I demoed every major Gen 4 paddle, and couldn't find one that was even close.
I'm around a 4.5 player, ex-5.0 tennis player, and I found that the Black Opal instantly upgraded my game from the Joola Gen 2 I was using. That's no surprise at all, since that paddle was 2 years old! However, what was stunning to me was just how much the Black Opal outperformed Joola 3S & IV, Crbn TruFoam, Engage, the Boomstik, and numerous others I demo'd in my paddle hunt. Power, spin, touch, swing weight, twist weight . . . in my opinion, this is the best paddle out there. So I bought one!
Most importantly to me, I'm in my mid-50s (and not very tall or very strong), and so I wanted a paddle with which I could generate power and spin while minimizing wear and tear on my body. I've only been out a couple of sessions with my Black Opal, but it's already better across the board for me -- with the very slight adjustments I've had to make to keep my backhand roll in the court.
I think we're going to be seeing a LOT more of these paddles around the court very soon. People rave about their Boomstiks because this paddle wasn't out yet. This is every bit as powerful, but with more touch, feel, spin, and consistency.
If you're looking for a new paddle right now, start with the Black Opal. Sorry I sound like a salesperson for it, but this 4.5 just stood toe-to-toe with a couple of 5.0s for a couple of hours. It's a great paddle. Now I just hope it keeps its grit and pop and feel for the long term. FANTASTIC work, Six Zero!!!
Love my black opal it’s an amazing paddle
First impression was that it has a lot of power and shapes the ball extremely well.
This is an excellent padel. I put a Hesacore grip with Zero Six over grip , fits my hand perfect! The weight and swing weight is consistent along with the hybrid shape, I would peer an 16 mm until learn to love this padel. So far I have about 12 hrs of intense playing and from the first ball the padel felt broken in .
I made the mistake of listening to some you tube reviews before my paddle arrived. Smaller sweetspot, add weights, blah, blah, blah. This paddle is perfect! All the feel, power, and spin you need and much more nimble close in than my Black Diamond 16mm Power pro Model. I was concerned about the 14mm thickness but my fears were groundless.
