Advanced Next Gem Technology: Black Opal
We set out to create a paddle that redefines what’s possible in power, control, and durability. The Black Opal is a rare gem in the pickleball world, built from the ground up with next-generation materials and patent-pending technologies that deliver unmatched feel and performance for players at every level.
Why choose the Black Opal?
- Designed for serious competitors and aspiring pros
- Combines explosive power with confident control and touch
- Engineered with Six Zero’s most advanced paddle innovations
- Built for tournament and high-performance recreational play
- Diamond Tough infused surface for extended texture life
G4 Aerospace Solid Foam Core
At the heart of the Black Opal is our proprietary G4 Aerospace Foam Core, a floating solid construction that optimizes energy transfer and creates a highly responsive sweet spot. The 14mm high-density design delivers fast hands and increased power while maintaining the same control you’d expect from a traditional 16mm paddle, giving you the best of both worlds.
Power Gel: Explosive Energy Layer
The Black Opal features our patent-pending Power Gel layer, engineered to amplify shot energy without compromising touch. This breakthrough design maximizes pop, adds depth to drives, and enhances precision at the net, giving you the edge in every exchange.
Shock Shield Handle Technology
With every swing, Shock Shield technology absorbs vibration and enhances feedback. This silicone injection system is built directly into the handle, reducing arm fatigue and helping you stay connected to the ball with greater comfort and confidence.
Carbon Lite Construction
Engineered with aerospace-grade Carbon Lite materials, the Black Opal delivers an ideal strength-to-weight ratio for lightning-fast maneuverability and long-lasting performance. The result is a paddle that feels light in hand but powerful on impact.
Diamond Tough Surface
The Black Opal introduces Six Zero’s patent-pending Diamond Tough infusion across the entire face, extending surface texture life by more than four times compared to industry standards. This means spin, bite, and consistency that endures match after match.
Perfectly Balanced for Precision and Power
Every detail of the Black Opal was meticulously designed to provide the ultimate balance between precision shot-making, powerful drives, and confident resets. Whether you’re attacking, defending, or dictating pace, this paddle empowers you to raise your game to the next level.
Exclusive Neoprene Cover
Each Black Opal comes with a custom Six Zero neoprene cover, protecting your paddle in style and ensuring you’re always ready for peak performance.
Step onto the court with confidence and experience the next level of power, precision, and control with the Black Opal.

Black Opal Paddle Review

Product FAQ
Probably the best 14mm I’ve played. Feels more like a 16mm. Great all around paddle. Appreciate the thought that went into this build.
The most unique paddle I have played with thus far . Power whenever you need it, that has actually helped my backhand for some reason I am unaware of, but fine with me. Like I said its unique, and you will need to warm up to it. Once you do it becomes your sword.
I was really looking forward to this paddle, as I’ve loved every other Six Zero paddle I’ve played with. I recommend the Ruby Pro over this paddle out of the new gem lineup. Unfortunately, there is no pop compared to the Joola Perseus Gen 4. Small sweet spot, with the edges being completely dead. Super inconsistent coming off the paddle.
Amazing power and control. It takes a few weeks to get used to it but worth the Learning curve!
Superior feel on soft shots and tons of power when you need it. Best paddle I’ve played with.
Enjoying the paddle so far.
After playing with my 6.0 Ruby for nearly 2 years, it had run its course. I demoed dozens of different paddles and watched hours of reviews. I had nearly settled on the Boomstick but couldn’t come to grips with the price or the lack of spin compared to the Ruby. As soon as I tried the Black Opal (with weights where the Boomstick’s are, this is key), I knew this was the paddle for me. Put simply, there are shots I make with the Opal that I cannot make with other paddles. I have made multiple drives, resets, shot placement, etc. that I am 100% confident are down to the paddle. Rumors about the Opal needing breaking in are true, it did take me around 8hrs of play time to feel like it had the feel I was 100% looking for. I would highly recommend the Black Opal to anyone!
Wow ! What a paddle. Great spin, pop and power! Totally transformed my game from mediocre to instant contender. Aussies leading the way in paddle ball 🏓 with innovation again
Took my new paddle to the courts today. First game was rough - hit the white tape on serves, hit out more often than I would like, dinks fell short. Then third game in, IT HAPPEND. Dinks locked in, backhand volleys never came back, serves started landing in the back third - this paddle is epic. Players who are more technique-minded and have a little patience will love this paddle. It just keeps getting better the more I play with it - this paddle is not a hammer, it's a paintbrush.
You want power and pop then this paddle is for you. Right from the first hit it was OMG this paddle is extreme. I have played now with this paddle about six hours and getting better at harnessing its ability. I am 64 and with the pop that this paddle has I am making more shots and less are being returned. There is a learning curve no doubt about that but if you have the ability to adapt your play and your good enough you will master it.
