I’ve been playing with the 6.0 Six Zero Ruby Pro 14mm for a few sessions now. As an intermediate player (currently in the 3.5–3.75 range) transitioning over from a 19mm paddle, here are my initial thoughts:
What’s Working Great:
* Aggressive Face & Spin: The texture on the surface is fantastic. It grips
the ball extremely well for spin.
* Pop & Power: The 14mm core provides noticeable pop off the face for
fast exchanges at the kitchen.
* Build Quality: Premium, durable construction overall.
Where I’m Struggling / Adjusting:
* Grip Thickness: The stock grip felt a little thin for my hands out of the
box, though adding an overgrip helped fix the feel a little.
* Impact & Speed: Coming from a plush 19mm core, the 14mm setup
moves very fast but transfers noticeably more feedback to my arm and
shoulder. I’ve noticed some extra joint strain after longer sessions.
Overall Verdict:
It’s a high-performing paddle, but I’m still figuring out if the 14mm speed is worth the reduction in dwell time and shock absorption for my body and play style. I’m planning to give it a few more sessions to see if I adapt, but I may eventually need to test a 16mm version for a bit more forgiveness and plushness.
Question for the 6.0 Team:
Have you had other players experiencing arm fatigue when making the jump from a thick 19mm paddle to the 14mm Ruby Pro? Would you recommend tweaking weight setups (like adding tungsten/lead tape to expand the sweet spot), or is transitioning to a 16mm core the better long-term route for more absorption? Would love to hear your thoughts!
good paddle but some large dead spots at the lower part of the paddle. Off-center hits are very noticeable. Otherwise good pop and control.
The best paddle I’ve had so far! Beautiful control and gives me the perfect speed and control I need. I tell everyone to get it! This is by far the best out of all the paddles I have bought. I love 6.0!
Super powerful, super grippy.Allows me to play way better with less effort. I’m in love with the Ruby Pro!
Ruby Pro 14mm is actually insane!!! There is so much spin it's almost ILLEGAL! Love love love this paddle!!!
I love my paddle ruby pro . Ruby pro has everything since I use this paddle it make difference to other I used.
Bought my SixZero Ruby Pro at my local club. Had played their demo was looking for same grit & spin. This paddle even new did not have much if any of the diamond grit that lasts3x. Owned for 2 weeks both my original Rubys shape shots and spin serves better. Not sure why all 3 of the Ruby Pros in stock lacked grit? Mine after 2 weeks of play is smooth. Thank you George
My friend got a Ruby Pro in November and the surface have a lot of grit..rough surface.
The one that I received last week has a smoother surface.
I was under the impression that what I was getting is one with the rougher surface and not this one.
I purchased mine from Pickleball Central and I have returned it.
So what changed between last year's Ruby Pro and this year's Ruby Pro?
This is the 2nd time that I am posting this review.
Six Zero sent me an email that they will get in touch with me.
Then they sent a follow-up email on how they did?
Grrrr....
My friend got one last year and it has a rough texture. The one that I received yesterday was smoother. My expectation was I was buying a paddle with the same rough texture and not a smoother texture.
Was there a change done?
I will be returning this one.
You will not find another paddle that has a surface like the Ruby Pro. Loved playing with it.
The Ruby Pro is very different to the Ruby… it has the control of the DBD but with much much more power, pop and spin… a very nice paddle…congrats to Six Zero
The is my main paddle for singles play bc it has the pop, power and control that suits my style. Spin is top notch also. Crazy amount of grit ! I get a lot more passing shots that are low and fast compared to the 14 Ruby. Pro tip: to save.
Crazy good paddle. Enhanced spin, power and control. Increased stability on shots and spin on slices and topspin. The power coming off the Ruby Pro is amazing.
Love the paddle so far it’s just a good feeling paddle for me
I bought this paddle after having the original Ruby 16 mm and the 14 mm. I love the OG Ruby 16, but did not enjoy the 14. I took a chance on this Ruby Pro because the price was right at $110. First off, I love the red colorway. It’s fantastic. Secondly, I love the fast hands it helps give me at the kitchen line. Now foe the other truths: I needed to add 3g weights at 4 & 8, and I’m thinking I need weights at 10 and 2. The head area doesn’t feel solid to me. When you hit the sweet spot, the paddle feels great. Off center hits are a bit clumsy. The diamond grit isn’t very gritty to the touch at all but I can tell it bits the ball. I haven’t quite dialed it in when playing against someone with a heavy underspin.
Now, for the biggest factor: This paddle gives you power only if you have your mechanics down and can hit the sweetspot. Off center hits will definitely be felt and blike a clunker over the net.
I’m not mad I bought it, but it’s definitely not as easy to play with as my OG Ruby 16mm. It is easier to play with than the OG Ruby 14mm.
If you need a power paddle this isn’t it. If you want some spin, this might be it. However the grit is nothing like you’ll feel on other paddles advertised with “durable grit” etc. Decent control if you can hit the sweet spot.
The diamond dust looks nice under the sun though…but there isn’t alot of it. 😊
